Cornelis Dirk Andriesse, wanda aka fi sani da C. D. Andriesse, an haife shi a ranar 21 ga Disamba, 1940, a Leeuwarden, lardin Friesland, Netherlands.[1] Ya girma a cikin yanayi mai goyon bayan ilimi, inda ya ji daɗin kimiyyar lissafi da adabi tun daga ƙuruciyarsa. Andriesse ya karanta ilimin kimiyyar lissafi a Jami'ar Utrecht, inda ya sami digiri na farko a 1964 sannan kuma digiri na PhD a 1969, tare da mai da hankali kan kimiyyar makamashi da ilimin zafi (thermodynamics).[1] A lokacin karatunsa, ya ji daɗin bincike kan makamashi mai sabuntawa da kuma tsarin lissafi na kimiyya, wanda ya zama tushen aikinsa na bincike na gaba.[4]
