Translation:
All this mountain range is called Carena by the Saracens and Claris Mountains by the Christians. And you should know that in these mountains there are many good towns and castles that make war on each other. Also in these mountains there is an abundance of bread, wine, oil and all kinds of good fruit.

Translation:
Through here pass the merchants who travel to the land of the negroes of Guinea. It is called the valley of the Draa.

Translation:
All this region is occupied by people who cover themselves so only their eyes can be seen. They live in tents and ride camels. There are beasts called Lemp from the skins of which they make fine shields.

Translation:
This black gentleman is called Mansa Musa and is the ruler of the negroes of Guinea. This king is the richest and noblest gentleman in all the region on account of the abundance of gold that is obtained from his land.
