Scanned image from a Penny Post Card. The concrete dam and mill in the picture were constructed in 1908, replacing the second rock and timber dam, which had replaced the original 1867 rock and timber dam. Note that this is an arch dam, with 15 feet of bow and a 140 foot head-race,[1] both of which are visible in the image. This third dam was built over the foundations of the first two dams.[2] The fuel oil power plant and smoke stack[3] completed in 1910 have not yet been added to the east end. This third dam was later replaced by the present straight dam about 120-130 feet downstream from the 1908 concrete arch.
This card bears a 1913 postmark, the year C. L. Brown, et al, (United Utilities, later Sprint) bought the facility.
