Jakar ruwan REFRESH ta kasance ta hanyar haɗin gwiwar kamfanoni da cibiyoyin bincike daga Girka, Spain, Italiya, Turkiyya da Jamhuriyar Czech a cikin ayyukan FP7 na Turai guda biyu, REFRESH (wanda ke gudana daga 2010 zuwa 2012) da XXL-REFRESH mai biyo baya (wanda ke gudana daga 2013 zuwa 2015). Aikin farko ya mayar da hankali ne kan tabbatar da manufar jakar ruwa na zamani; ya ƙera ƙaramin sikeli mai girman 200 m3, wanda aka gwada a Girka a cikin 2012.[12] Aikin na biyu ya mayar da hankali ne kan haɓakawa da kuma sake fasalin wani ɓangare na tsarin REFRESH. A ƙarshen aikin na biyu manufar jakar ruwa ta REFRESH ta kai sikelin kasuwanci kuma an gwada tsarin 2500 m3 da aka yi da nau'ikan nau'ikan 500m3 guda biyar a tekun Spain a cikin 2015.[13] Tsawon jakar ruwan ya kai mita 60.[12]

Zippers suna taka muhimmiyar rawa wajen faɗaɗa ƙarfin jakar ruwa fiye da abin da a zahiri za a iya samu ta wurin yanki ɗaya. Ra'ayoyin Spragg da REFRESH duka suna da fitattun zippers, duk da cewa suna da babban bambanci a cikin aikinsa.[18]
