Green shayi wani nau'in shayi ne da aka yi daga ganye da buds na Camellia sinensis waɗanda ba su sha wahala ba da tsarin bushewa da oxidation wanda ke haifar da shayi na oolong da baƙar fata.[1] Green shayi ya samo asali ne a kasar Sin a ƙarshen karni na 1 BC, kuma tun daga wannan lokacin samar da shi da masana'anta sun bazu zuwa wasu ƙasashe a Gabashin Asiya.[1]
