Masanin yanayi na Biritaniya Ed Hawkins ne ya buga asalin yanayin karkacewar yanayi a ranar 9 ga Mayu 2016 don nuna matsakaicin matsakaicin yanayin zafi na duniya tun 1850. Maɓalli mai zaman kanta, lokaci, an rushe shi zuwa watanni (wakilta ta hanyar canza canjin juyawa akai-akai game da tsakiyar batu) da shekaru (launi na layi wanda ke tasowa yayin da shekaru suka shude).
Hawkins ya bayyana cewa a cikin aiwatar da shi, launuka suna wakiltar lokaci: purple don farkon shekaru, ta hanyar shuɗi, kore zuwa rawaya don mafi yawan 'yan shekarun nan. Ya yi zane-zane a cikin MATLAB kuma ya yi amfani da ma'aunin launi na "viridis", da sanin zabar ma'aunin launi wanda ke sa zane-zane su iya karantawa ga masu kallo masu launi.
