Kaliapparat na'urar dakin gwaje-gwaje ce da Justus von Liebig (1803-1873) ya ƙirƙira a cikin 1831 don nazarin carbon a cikin mahadi.[1] Na'urar da aka yi da gilashi, ta ƙunshi jerin kwararan fitila biyar da aka haɗa kuma an shirya su a cikin siffar triangular.

Don ƙayyade carbon a cikin wani kwayoyin halitta tare da kaliapparat, abu ya fara ƙonewa, yana canza duk wani carbon da ke cikin carbon dioxide (CO2). Abubuwan da ke da iskar gas tare da tururin ruwa da aka samar ta hanyar konewa suna wucewa ta kaliapparat, wanda ke cike da bayani na potassium hydroxide (KOH).
