Muhammadu Attahiru Ibn Ahmad Zarruk (1902 – 1903) An haife shi a Chimula. Duk da cewa Kalifa Muhammadu yayi mulki ne na kankanin lokaci amma kuma lokacin shi ya kasance mai tarin mahimmanci ga tarihin Kalifancin Sokoto. An kwatanta lokacin shi da lokacin Shehu Usman Dan Fodio yayin da yake kokarin kafa daular Musulunci.[1] A cikin wata tara (9) dayayi Kalifanci yayi aiki tukuru wajen ganin nasarar daular Musulunci. Attahiru shine Kalifa na goma sha biyu (12) kuma Kalifa na karshe a hadaddiyar, mai yanci daular Sokoto wanda Shehu ya kafa tun 1804.

Rasuwar Kalifa Abdurrahman ta bayar da daman a nada wani sabon Kalifa. Wannan kuma ya zama abunda akeso ayi da gaggawa domin zuwan turawan mulkin mallaka lokacin. Lokacin turawan sun fara kaiwa wani bangare daga cikin masarautar hari kamar Bida da Illorin. Aka’ida yakan dauka kwana hudu (4) ko biyar (5) ne ake zaban sabon Kalifa, amma saboda halinda ake ciki a kwana na uku (3) aka zaba Muhammadu inda akayi mashi mubayi’a a gidan Waziri Muhammadu Buhari.[1]

Duk da cewa mayakan turawa sun kutsa Sokoto a Lahadi 15th March, 1903 da kuma yakar sojojin Sokoto sun samu damar nada wani Sarkin Musulmi Attahiru II yayin da Attahiru na I yayi hijira. Ana ganin cewa 29th July shine ranar da Kalifancin Sokoto ta kare saboda mutuwar Kalifa Attahiru na daya.[1]
