Origo gentis
A cikin karatun zamani, wani Origo gentis shine labarin asalin gens (mutane). Ba wani nau'i ne na wallafe-wallafen kansa ba, amma wani bangare ne na ayyuka masu yawa waɗanda ke bayyana, alal misali, tarihin mutanen da suka dace. Hakanan suna iya zama wani ɓangare na jarumi ko tarihin rayuwa.[1]
Abun ciki na asalin gentium

A tsakiyar labarin shine asalin asalin rukuni na mutane (kamar Goths, Lombards, Anglo-Saxons, Franks da Croats). Yawancin lokaci ana ba da shi ta baki a farkon kuma an rubuta shi daga baya kuma an wadata shi da wasu abubuwa daga malaman zamanin d ̄ a. Baya ga bayanin almara game da asalin al'umma, ana yawan ambaton halaye na musamman da halaye na "al'ada" ga wannan rukuni na mutane. Ayyukan tarihi na asalin gentium

Ta wannan hanyar, waɗannan ƙungiyoyin kabilanci da yawa an haɗa su cikin haɗin kai ta hanyar tarihin asali; wannan ya taka muhimmiyar rawa a cikin tsari mai rikitarwa na Late Antique da Early Medieval ethnogenesis. Sanannun misalai na Origo sune Getica na Jordanes (wanda ya ba Goths tarihin da ya dace da na sauran mutane da yawa na dā) ko Origo Gentis Langobardorum na Langobards a karni na 7. Franks sun karbi tatsuniyoyin Troy da Romawa suka shahara ta hanyar Virgil's Aeneid . A cewar masanin tarihin coci Bede, Sarki Vortigern ya kira Saxons zuwa Burtaniya kuma ya sauka a can tare da jiragen ruwa uku a karkashin umurnin 'yan uwan Hengist da Horsa.
