Lists based on the work of Roger Blench[gyara masomin]

Dear Sabon Harshe,

Thanks a lot for your contributions to the project! Just a quick question: do you have the authorization of Roger Blench to copy the birds and plants and trees lists on Wikipedia? Most documents seem to mention "for comment only", so I don't think they are in the public domain. Unless you are Roger Blench himself of course, in which case we are very lucky to have you here and you are very welcome to release your own work in the public domain. Roger has expressly told me that he is fine with me putting his materials on Wikipedia as long as they are cited and acknowledged. The reason many of his documents are "for comment only" is because he is constantly revising his manuscripts - which often somewhat messy - but he is usually very open with his data, to the point where another linguist actually called him an anarchist. :) Sabon Harshe (talk) 06:59, 24 Disamba 2019 (UTC)[Mai da]
Thanks for your answer, that is really amazing!
Ideally, to avoid any future problem, the best way to proceed would be for Roger Blench to release the works he allowed you to use on Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported and GNU Free Documentation License, using the template available at this address. This license allows any kind of commercial/non-commercial use, but it does not affect 1) fair dealing or fair use rights; 2) the author's moral rights; 3) rights other persons may have either in the work itself or in how the work is used, such as publicity or privacy rights. The template is pretty straightforward, but let me know if you have any questions.
The authorization written according to this template should then be sent to: permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
Thanks a lot, –DonCamillo (talk) 08:04, 24 Disamba 2019 (UTC)[Mai da]
Thanks for the suggestions! Sabon Harshe (talk) 21:30, 24 Disamba 2019 (UTC)[Mai da]
Hi Sabon Harshe,
Just to update you: after consulting with some friends I think it would be very difficult to use a bot in order to create those articles. It is probably better to look at every species one by one, at other resources that are available online (Feedipedia, Plantnet...), and create the articles accordingly. I have started creating a few of them today. Thanks again for your contributions and ideas, all the best! –DonCamillo (talk) 08:58, 22 ga Janairu, 2020 (UTC)[Mai da]
Thank you! This seems like a good plan. Sabon Harshe (talk) 18:47, 30 ga Janairu, 2020 (UTC)[Mai da]

One-word articles in various languages[gyara masomin]

Hi,

I've noticed that you've created some articles about animals in Dinka and Ewe. They are very short, with just an image and the animal's name. I see that you are citing dictionaries, but I'm not sure that it's actually good.

Have you verified with people who speak these languages that the names are correct? Surprisingly often, dictionaries give names that people don't necessarily use in real life.

Also, could you instead add them to Wiktionary or to Wikidata Lexemes? These are much better places for single words. One-word Wikipedia pages are not really articles. It's unlikely that they will be improved, or even read by anyone. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 07:39, 2 ga Yuni, 2022 (UTC)[Mai da]
