Español: El blasón representa en sus cuatro cantones una semblanza de la ciudad. II. Superior izquierdo: muestra una torre, símbolo de Oyarzún, población vascongada. III. Superior derecho: está ilustrado con una garza blanca emprendiendo el vuelo sobre una vivienda hispánica. IV. Inferior izquierdo: expresa el significado etimológico de Saltillo en lengua náhuatl, ‘tierra alta de muchas aguas’, y, V. Inferior derecho: muestra un águila roja, representación de los huachichiles, tribu de chichimecas que poblaban Saltillo en tiempos de la conquista. El escudo está orlado con una leyenda que dice: Tierra rica, clima benigno, hombres fuertes, y dos antorchas, la del Ateneo Fuente a la derecha y a la izquierda, la de la Revolución Mexicana”.
