Richard Hayes III presents a Meritorious Civilian Service Medal to Lester T. Shoji, Sept. 25, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH). The medal is for “outstanding performance and meritorious achievement as Structural Engineer, Capital Improvements Business Line, NAVFAC Hawaii from August 1995 – September 2017. Shoji provided exceptional design management expertise completing hundreds of in-house and AE-designed projects valued in excess of $900 million throughout his 22 year NAVFAC career. His service and professionalism made a significant impact to the quality of Naval and Marine facilities in the State of Hawaii effectively supporting the readiness and capability of the Pacific Fleet….One of the highlights of shoji’s storied career was the successful completion of the $125 million P-627 AEGIS Ashore Missile Test Complex project.
