The second resolution was in these words : Resolved, That petitions for the abolition o)slavery in the District of Columbia and the Terri-tories of the United States, and against the removalof slaves from one State to another, are a part of aplan of operations set on foot to affect the institu-tion of slavery in the Southern States, and thus indi-rectly to destroy that institution within their limits. On this resolution the vote stood : 136 forit, and 65 against it.
