Art expert Dr. G. Langer from Vienna, will lecture at the Art Reference Library on Friday. She is pictured examining 'Faun', a carving in Helidon sandstone, which is included in the exhibition being held at the Art Reference Library. The exhibition is being held by Brisbane artist Mr L. G. Shillam. (Description taken from: The Courier Mail, Wednesday 3 April 1940, p. 2).

Gertrude Langer, nee Froschl, was born in Vienna in 1908. She married architect Karl Langer in 1932 and they migrated to Australia in 1938. They arrived in Brisbane in 1939. Gertrude became the Courier Mail art critic from 1956 until 1984. She died in September 1984. (Description supplied with photograph).
