Ahmad Rufa'i Dan Shehu Dan Fodio (Haihuwa da Rasuwa: 1810 zuwa 1873). An kuma haife shi a cikin tsakiyar yaki, hakan yasa ya bude ido sosae da lamarin yaki, tun yana dan yaransa mutane ke daraja shi domin dabi’unsa da su kai daidai da na Shehu da kuma tsakanin soyayyarsa da ilimi da karatu. Mutane dayawa suna kwatantashi da Shehu wajen kamanni. Ya kuma kasance lokacin mulkinsa yana da tsanani akan barayi da masu laifi ko wani iri. Kuma mai tsanani ne akan bin doka da oda kan dukkan mabiyansa.[1]

Kamar yadda al’adar gidan Shehu take Ahmadu shima ya taso ne bisa kula na mahaifinsa akan karatun tukanshi da tarbiyyansa. Duk da basu ɗauki lokaci mai tsawo ba mahaifin nashi ya rasu. Hakan yasa Ahmadu yayi karatu ne a wajen Malamai wa inda suke taya mahaifin nashi aiki. Muhammad Bello da Abubakar Atiku, su suka cigaba da kula da karatun yaran Shehu bayan Allah yayiwa shehun rasuwa.[1]

Ahmadu Rufa’i yayi shekaru kafin samun sarautarsa, inda aka nada shi a matsayin Kalifa a Masallacin Wurno a watan october 18th, bayan kwana biyar da mutuwar wanda ya gada a wajen sa shine Aliyu Karami.[1]
