BayaniFloods in South Sudan (Copernicus).jpg
English: These images, acquired by Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 23 November 2020 and 26 November 2021, show a flooded area near Bentiu in South Sudan. The worst flooding in 60 years has hit the northern state of Unity, of which Bentiu is one of the largest cities. According to the UNHCR (the UN refugee agency), more than 700,000 people have been affected by the flooding, which prevented communities from accessing food supplies and other basic necessities and caused the spread of diseases such as malaria. Data from Copernicus allow us to monitor the effects of natural disasters around the world.
