English: Ghana deposited on November 3, 2021, its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications ("Geneva Act") with WIPO Director General Daren Tang (left).
The instrument of accession was deposited by Godfred Yeboah Dame, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Ghana. The Geneva Act provides producers of quality products linked to their origin with faster and cheaper access to the international protection of their products' distinctive designations. It further develops the legal framework of the Lisbon System, which helps promote many globally marketed products such as, for example, Bananas of Costa Rica, Champagne, Tuscan Oil, or Bohemia Crystal. Ghanaian GIs include: Bolga baskets, Dzomi red palm oil, Ghana cocoa, Pona yam, to name only a few.
