  • Scope and content: This artifact is a pocket knife given to President Ronald Reagan though Arkansas Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt. This pocket knife was designed in the state of Arkansas. The knife was handcrafted by Clifton Polk, scrimshaw by Mrs. Polk, wooden case by J. R. Mack and engraving on the wooden case by Max Kissler. The scrimshaw depicts an American eagle motif lettered 'the right to keep and bear arms' and the blade is marked Polk.
