Kunduz birni ne a arewacin Afghanistan kuma babban birnin Lardin Kunduz . Birnin yana da kimanin mutane 268,893 a shekarar 2015, wanda ya sa ya zama Birni na bakwai mafi girma a Afghanistan, kuma birni mafi girma a arewa maso gabashin Afghanistan.Kunduz tana cikin yankin tarihi na Tokharistan na Bactria, kusa da haɗuwar Kogin Kunduz da Kogin Khanabad . Kunduz tana da alaƙa da manyan hanyoyi tare da Kabul a kudu, Mazar-i-Sharif a yamma, da Badakhshan a gabas. Kunduz kuma tana da alaƙa da Dushanbe a Tajikistan zuwa arewa, ta hanyar tashar jiragen ruwa ta Afghanistan ta Sherkhan Bandar . Wannan birni ya shahara a Afghanistan saboda samar da alade.

Kunduz kuma wani lokacin ana rubuta shi (romanized) kamar Kundûz, Qonduz, Qondûz, Konduz, Konduz, Kondoz, ko Qhunduz . Sunan birnin ya samo asali ne daga fili na Farisa, kohan поле, "tsohon / tsohuwar sansani.

Kunduz shine shafin tsohon birnin Drapsaka . Babban cibiyar ilmantarwa ce ta Buddha kuma tana da wadata sosai a cikin karni na 3 AD.
