Effie Louise Power (Fabrairu 12, 1873 - Oktoba 8, 1969)[1]ma'aikaciyar laburare ce ta yara, malami,marubuci,kuma mai ba da labari. Ta karfafa samar da littattafan yara da kuma tantance littattafan yara.[2]Ta "kai tsaye ta rinjayi ci gaban sabis ga yara a manyan biranen Amurka uku:Cleveland,St. Louis,da Pittsburgh." [3] :671Har ila yau,wutar lantarki ta zagaya ko'ina cikin Amurka tana karantar da ɗalibai da masu karatu a kan ayyukan yara da ayyukan ɗakin karatu na matasa.Ta yi aiki don gina hanyar haɗin gwiwar ma'aikatan ɗakin karatu na yara a duk faɗin ƙasar waɗanda ke tallafawa juna tare da kafa ƙa'idodi masu kyau ga kowa da kowa a cikin wannan sana'a.

An haifi Power a ranar 12 ga Fabrairu,1873, a Conneautville, Pennsylvania a Amurka ga mahaifiyar Francis Billing da mahaifin William Ellis Power.[1]Mulki bai taba yin aure ko haihuwa ba.

Bayan Power ya kammala karatunsa daga makarantar sakandare,William Howard Brett,maƙwabcin dangi na Power,ya fara aikinta ta hanyar ƙarfafa ta ta rubuta jarrabawar shiga makarantar Cleveland Public Library (CPL).[3]:671Ba da daɗewa ba,Power ya fara aiki a CPL a 1895.Brett,ma'aikacin laburare a CPL,ba wai kawai ta yi aiki a matsayin mai ba da iko ba a lokacin da take can,amma kuma ya sanya ta a matsayin mai kula da "Junior Alcove".[3]:671Daga baya,a ranar 22 ga Fabrairu, 1898, Brett ya buɗe ɗakin yara na farko na CPL.[4]Ya ba da iko,yadda ya kamata ya sanya ta zama ma'aikaciyar ɗakin karatu na yara na farko a Tsarin Laburaren Jama'a na Cleveland.

A matsayin ma'aikacin ɗakin karatu na yara na Cleveland Public Library, Power yayi aiki don cusa wa yara son littattafai da karatu.Ta kuma nemi ta karyata labarin cewa yara ba su da sha'awar karatun almara.A lokacin,mutane sun yi imanin cewa dole ne a tilasta wa yara su karanta littattafan da ba na almara ba.[3]:671Ƙarfin ya yi imanin cewa tare da ƙarfafawa kuma idan aka ba su dama mai yawa, yara za su iya jin dadin labaran almara.Don tabbatar da batunta,Power ta ɗauki ayyukan ƙididdiga masu dacewa da shekaru daga sauran sassan ɗakin karatu kuma ta nuna su a kan ɗakunan ajiya a ɗakin yara.Kamar yadda ta zata,yaran suna son littattafan.

Power ya sauke karatu daga Carnegie Library a Pittsburgh,PA a 1904.[5]:193Ta sami takardar shaidar difloma a cikin shirinsu na ma'aikatan ɗakin karatu na yara.Bayan shekaru biyu ta sauke karatu da takardar shaidar koyarwa daga Jami'ar Columbia.
