Ko da yake an haife shi a Nijar, Assani ɗan ƙasar Benin ne.[1] Ya yi karatu a Faransa, inda ya sami digiri na farko a fannin kasuwanci daga Jami'ar Paris Dauphine a shekara ta 1981, digiri na uku a fannin lissafi daga Jami'ar Pierre da Marie Curie a shekara ta 1981, kuma likitan kimiyya daga Jami'ar Pierre da Marie Curie a shekarar 1986.[1][2] karkashin kulawar Antoine Brunel.
