Ma’aikatar Shari’a ta Jihar Legas tana daga cikin rassa uku masu daidaita-daidai na Gwamnatin Jihar Legas da aka tsara a ƙarƙashin Kundin Tsarin Mulkin Nijeriya da dokokin gwamnatin Legas. Manyan Alkalan ne Gwamnan Jihar Legas na da yardar Majalisar don su yi aiki har zuwa ƙarshen wa’adinsu, murabus, tsigewa da hukunci, ritaya, ko mutuwa.[1][2][3]

Kotunan Jihar Legas sun ƙunshi matakai uku na kotuna. Babbar kotun ita ce kotun makoma ta karshe a gaban Kotun Koli ta Najeriya . Gabaɗaya kotun ɗaukaka ƙara ce da ke aiki a ƙarƙashin duba hankali, ma'ana cewa Kotun na iya zaɓar waɗancan shari'o'in da za ta saurara, ta hanyar ba da takaddun taƙaddama . Sauran matakan kotun sun hada da Majistare da Kotun Al'adar.[4][5][6][7]

Hukumar Kula da Shari'a

Har ila yau, sashen shari'ar na Jihar Legas ya ƙunshi Hukumar Kula da Harkokin Shari'a wanda ayyukan da doka ta tanada sun haɗa da daukakawa da naɗin ma'aikatan shari'a da kuma sauran ayyukan horo. Babban Alkalin yana aiki a matsayin shugaban hukumar. Sauran wadanda suka banbanta a bangaren shari'a sun haɗa da Babban Lauyan Janar na Jihar Legas da Kwamishinan Shari'a na Jihar Legas | Kwamishinan Shari'a. Babban magatakarda yana kuma matsayin shugaban gudanarwa da kuma akawu na bangaren shari'a.

Ma’aikatar Shari’a ta Jihar Legas ita ce kafa ta farko da ta kafa Shari’a a Najeriya kuma a da ana kiranta da Shari’ar Lardin mallaka. Kotun majistare ita ce ta farko da aka kafa tsakanin wasu. An kuma kafa shi a gaban Babbar Kotun, wanda a da ake kira Kotun Ƙoli amma kuma ikon mallakar sa ya zama na gari. Kafa kotun Magistrate ta haifar da babbar kotu, Kotun Koli ta Jihar Legas ta wancan lokacin. Lokacin da aka kafa Kotun Ƙoli ta Nijeriya, Kotun Ƙoli ta Legas ta yi biris da Babbar Kotun Tarayya ta Legas tare da naɗin John Taylor a matsayin Babban Alkali.

A ranar 27 ga Mayun shekarar 1967, a wannan shekarar ne aka ƙirƙiro Jihar Legas, aka haɗa Babbar Kotu da Kotun Majistare ta Babban Birnin Tarayya suka zama bangaren Shari’ar Jihar Legas a ƙarƙashin Jagorancin John Taylor, Babban Alkalin Jihar Legas na farko. Wa’adin Taylor ya wuce a ranar 7 ga Nuwamban shekarata 1973 kuma Mai Shari’a Joseph Adefarasin ya gaje shi bayan nadin nasa wanda ya fara aiki a ranar 1 ga Nuwamban shekarar 1974. Ya yi aiki a wannan matsayin na tsawon shekaru 9 har zuwa Afrilu 24, 1985 lokacin da wa'adinsa ya kare. Mai shari’a Candide Ademola Johnson ya gaje shi, wanda aka nada a ranar 25 ga Afrilun shekarar 1985, kwana guda bayan Mai shari’a Joseph ya bar ofis. Ya shafe shekaru 4 a ofis kuma Mai Shari’a Ligali Ayorinde ya gaje shi a ranar 10 ga Yulin 1989. Ya yi aiki a wannan matsayin na tsawon shekaru 6 Ie tsakanin Yulin 1989 zuwa Afrilun shekarar 1995. A watan Agustan shekarata 2014, aka nada Oluwafunmilayo Olajumoke Atilade a matsayin Babban Alkali, wanda Ade Ipaye, Babban Lauyan Jihar Legas ya rantsar. An nada Hon Justice Opeyemi Oke a matsayin wanda ya maye gurbin ta, sannan daga baya aka rantsar da kuma tabbatar da shi a ranar 20 ga Oktoban shekarar 2017 da gwamnan jihar Legas, mai girma Mista Akinwunmi Ambode a matsayin mata na shida na alkalin Jihar Legas.

Dangane da sashi na 271 (1) da (4) na Kundin Tsarin Mulki na Tarayyar Najeriya na shekarar 1999 (Kamar yadda aka yi kwaskwarima), Mai girma Mista Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Gwamna Jihar Legas ya nada Honarabul Justice Kazeem O. Alogba a matsayin Babban Alkali na 17 na Jihar Legas wanda zai fara aiki daga ranar Talata 11 ga Yunin shekarar 2019, a matsayin mai rikon mukamin, har sai lokacin da Majalisar Kula da Harkokin Shari'a ta Ƙasa (NJC) za ta ba ta shawara tare da tabbatar da Majalisar Dokokin Jiha daga baya.
