Yayin da take sha'awar taurari tun tana karama kuma ta yi karatun lissafi a matsayin abin sha'awa, sai da ta isa Australia ne Dafter ta nemi shawara kuma ta fara koya wa kanta ilimin taurari.
A cikin 1923,an zaɓi Dafter memba na Ƙungiyar Astronomical ta Burtaniya wacce ke da reshe a New South Wales. Ita ce mai lura da kudanci don Ƙungiyar shekaru talatin,kuma ta kasance memba na Ƙungiyar Astronomical ta New Zealand da Ƙungiyar Ƙwararrun Ƙwararrun Tauraro na Amirka.[1][2][3][4]
