Ta yi karatun firamare da sakandare a Harare, Zimbabwe. Katedza ta kammala karatu tare da digiri na farko a Turanci daga Jami'ar McGill, Kanada a shekarar 1995. A shekara ta 2008 Katedza ta sami Kyautar Chevening Scholarship wanda ya ba ta damar ci gaba da karatunta a fim. Har ila yau, tana da digiri na biyu MA a fannin shirya fim daga Kwalejin Goldsmiths, Jami'ar London.[4]
