Tarihin jami'ar yana da alaƙa da Jami'ar London. An kafa shi a 1948 a matsayin Kwalejin Jami'ar Ibadan (kwalejin Jamiʼar London), wanda ke kula da shirye-shiryen ilimi kuma yana ba da digiri har zuwa 1967.[1] Kafawar ta zo ne sakamakon shawarar da Asquith da Kwamitin Elliot suka bayar kan Ilimi mafi girma a cikin mulkin mallaka na Burtaniya na lokacin, cewa za a kafa Kwalejojin Jami'ar London [2]guda biyu a Ghana da Najeriya.
