John Frank Abu ɗan siyasan Ghana ne kuma memba na majalisar farko, na biyu da na uku na jamhuriya ta huɗu ta Ghana mai wakiltar mazabar Aminfi ta tsakiya a yankin yammacin Ghana.[1] Tsohon ministan ma'adinai da makamashi ne kuma ministan kasuwanci da masana'antu. Ya kuma kasance Ministan yankin Yamma a tsohuwar gwamnatin National Democratic Congress (NDC).[2][3]

An haifi Abu ne a yankin Aminfi ta tsakiya a yankin yammacin kasar Ghana. Ya halarci Jami'ar Guelph, Kanada inda ya sami digiri na uku a fannin Falsafa, PhD. Ya karanta aikin gona a jami'ar Ghana inda ya sami digiri na biyu a fannin kimiyya da digiri na farko.[4]

A cikin shekarar 1997, Jerry John Rawlings ya nada shi a matsayin ministan ma'adinai da makamashi. A shekarar 2007, an zaɓe shi a matsayin shugaban NDC na yankin Yamma inda ya doke abokin hamayyarsa Mista Seidu Adamu da ƙuri'u 68 zuwa 60.[5][6]

An fara zaɓen Abu ne a matsayin dan majalisa na farko a jamhuriya ta hudu ta Ghana a zaɓen majalisar dokokin Ghana a shekarar 1992 kan tikitin jam'iyyar National Democratic Congress. Ya kasance a majalisa a karo na biyu a lokacin babban zaben Ghana na Disamban shekarar 1996. Ya samu kuri’u 18,644 da ke wakiltar kashi 67.7% cikin 27,551 na sahihin kuri’un da aka kada a kan abokin hamayyarsa Emmanuel O.K Duah wanda ya samu ƙuri’u 8,136 da ke wakiltar 25.9% da Kofi Osei wanda ya samu kuri’u 624 da ke wakiltar 2.3% da Lawrence K.Afari wanda ya samu kuri’u 2.3% -Amoahene wanda ya kada kuri'a 0.[7][8]

An zaɓi Abu a matsayin dan majalisa mai wakiltar mazabar Amenfi ta tsakiya a yankin yammacin Ghana a babban zaben Ghana na shekara ta 2000. Don haka ya wakilci mazaɓar a majalisa ta uku a jamhuriya ta huɗu ta Ghana. An zaɓe shi da kuri'u 13,319 daga cikin 24,514 jimlar kuri'u masu inganci da aka jefa. Wannan yayi daidai da 54.30% na jimlar ingantattun ƙuri'un da aka jefa. An zabe shi a kan Padmore Kofi Arthur na New Patriotic Party, Osei Kofi na Jam'iyyar National Convention Party da George K.Essem-Koffie na Jam'iyyar Convention Peoples Party. Wadannan sun samu kuri'u 10,208, 527 da 460 bi da bi na jimlar ingantattun kuri'un da aka kada, daidai da kashi 41.60%, 2.10% da 1.90% na yawan ƙuri'un da aka kaɗa.[9][10][11] Jam'iyyar National Democratic Congress ta lashe kujeru 9 cikin kujeru 19 na yankin yammacin ƙasar a zaɓen. Gaba ɗaya jam'iyyar ta samu 'yan tsiraru na wakilai 89 daga cikin kujeru 200 na majalisar dokoki ta 3 a jamhuriya ta 4 ta Ghana.[12]

A shekara ta 2001, ya yi Allah wadai da gwamnatin Ghana, saboda rashin samar da ingantattun tsare-tsare don ciyar da fannin hakar ma'adinai gaba a kasar. Bangaren, wanda ya yi iƙirarin yana gab da rugujewa a nan gaba.[13]

Abu shine shugaban kamfanin matatar mai na Tema. Tsohon ministan ma'adinai da makamashi ne. Ya yi aiki a matsayin ministan ciniki da masana'antu. Shi ma masanin noma ne.[14][15][16]
