Dear Saudarh2,

Good day, and I trust you are doing well.

I write to you in my capacity as National Coordinator of the Nigeria National Funding Programme (NNFP) to provide you with the official communication you have been awaiting regarding the expected collaboration between you and Halima Waziri. I sincerely apologize that this communication did not reach you earlier and I understand that the absence of direct official guidance has created some uncertainty on your part, and I want to address that fully and clearly with this correspondence.

Upon reviewing your grant application alongside that of Halima Waziri, the NNFP Grant Evaluation Committee identified significant thematic and operational similarities between both proposals. In the interest of cost efficiency, resource optimization, and maximizing the overall value and impact of the available funding, the Committee formally recommended that you and Halima Waziri collaborate on a joint, expanded project that draws on the complementary strengths of both proposals.

This recommendation was communicated to Halima as a formal condition of her grant approval. Her approved grant amount was subsequently increased by NGN400,000, bringing her total approved funding to NGN2,015,000  in recognition of the additional responsibilities, expanded scope, and broader reach that this collaboration will require. I understand that Halima has briefed you on the broad outline of this arrangement, and I commend both of you for the openness and goodwill you have shown in engaging with each other so far.

Specifically, you are expected to:

  1. Work jointly with Halima Waziri on an integrated project plan that combines the strengths of both proposals under a unified implementation framework
  2. Agree on a clear and documented division of responsibilities, shared milestones, and joint deliverables that reflect the expanded scope of the collaboration
  3. Implement your approved project activities in a manner that is complementary to and coordinated with Halima's project avoiding duplication and maximizing collective impact
  4. Submit your final report in a manner that reflects the collaborative nature of the engagement, documenting both your individual contributions and the joint outcomes achieved

Regarding your question about which proposal framework should be used for the joint project — both your individual approved proposals remain the primary reference documents for your respective project activities and budgets. The collaboration does not require you to abandon or significantly redesign your approved proposal. Rather, the expectation is that both proposals are implemented in a coordinated and mutually reinforcing manner with activities, timelines, and outputs aligned where possible to avoid duplication, maximize geographic reach, and achieve a greater collective impact than either project would deliver independently.

I remain fully available to support you and Halima throughout this process. Should you require any further clarification on the expectations, project structure, implementation approach, or any other aspect of the collaboration arrangement, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly by email or phone. I would also be happy to facilitate a joint virtual session with both of you if that would be helpful in resolving any outstanding questions and getting the collaboration firmly on track.

Once again, I apologize for the delay in reaching out to you directly, and I thank you sincerely for your patience, your openness to the collaboration, and your commitment to the objectives of the grant. We are genuinely excited about the potential impact of this joint initiative and look forward to supporting you and Halima in delivering a successful and meaningful project.

Warm regards,

Eze Peter Nwankwo

National Coordinator, Nigeria National Funding Programme (NNFP)
