Jami'ar Gabashin Afirka, Baraton (UEAB) jami'a ce mai zaman kanta mai zaman kanta da ke cikin Baraton, kimanin kilomita 50 daga Eldoret Kenya. [1]  Yana ba da digiri a cikin shirye-shiryen digiri da digiri a fannonin Kasuwanci, Humanities, Aikin noma, Fasahar, Kimiyya ta Lafiya da Ilimi. Jami'ar Baraton, kamar yadda aka fi sani da ita, Ikilisiyar Adventist ta bakwai ce ke gudanar da ita, kuma tana daga cikin tsarin ilimi mafi girma. Hukumar Ilimi ta Sama, Gwamnatin Kenya ce ta amince da ita, kuma ita ce jami'a ta farko mai zaman kanta da ta karbi takardar shaidar da Jamhuriyar Kenya ta bayar a ranar 28 ga Maris, 1991. Jami'ar memba ce ta Majalisar Jami'o'i ta Gabashin Afirka, Ƙungiyar Jami'o-Jami'ar Commonwealth, da Ƙungiyar Jamiʼo'in Afirka.

Yana daga cikin tsarin ilimin Adventist na bakwai, tsarin makarantar Kirista na biyu mafi girma a duniya.[2][3][4][5]

Manufar UEAB ita ce samar da ingantaccen ilimin Kirista ga matasa tare da manufar samar musu da ƙwarewar da ake bukata don hidima ga Allah da bil'adama.[6]

Farawar ilimin Adventist na bakwai a wannan ɓangaren Afirka ya samo asali ne daga kafa Ikilisiyar Adventist na saba'a a yankin. An kafa cocin farko a Tanzania a cikin 1903, sannan aikin coci a kusa da Tafkin Victoria, musamman tare da kafa manufa ta 1906 a Gendia na Homa-Bay County, wurin da asibitin Kendu Adventist, Gendia High School da Africa Herald da Publishing House ke yanzu. A cikin 1928 an kafa abin da yanzu ake kira Kamagambo Adventist College a garin Rongo, Migori County.

An kafa makarantun firamare da sakandare da yawa tun daga lokacin. Wasu daga cikin wadannan suna ba da ilimin sakandare, amma babu wani daga cikinsu da ya ba da cikakken shirin digiri na farko. Saboda wannan dalili, ɗaliban da ke son wannan matakin ilimi a wata ma'aikatar Adventist kafin 1980 dole ne su fita waje da Gabashin Afirka. A cikin shekarun 1970s, Jami'ar Gabas ta Tsakiya a Beirut Lebanon ta yi wa irin waɗannan ɗalibai hidima. Don haka, akwai babban bukatar jami'a a Gabashin Afirka.

A watan Oktoba na shekara ta 1978, kwamitin Yankin Afirka ta Tsakiya na Adventists na kwana bakwai ya dauki mataki don kafa irin wannan jami'a a Kenya a ranar 21 ga watan Disamba, shekara ta 1978. Gwamnatin Kenya ta ba da Cibiyar Binciken Kiwon Lafiya ta Baraton na kadada 339 (1.37 km2) a cikin Gundumar Nandi ga Ikilisiyar Adventist ta bakwai don manufar kafa abin da yanzu ake kira Jami'ar Gabashin Afirka, Baraton.  An fara karatun ne a watan Janairun 1980 a cikin tsarin gona na wucin gadi. Jami'ar ta dauki bakuncin cibiyar bincike ta gida ta Ellen G. White Estate. Ma'aikata da dalibai suna shiga cikin bincike a fannonin da suka hada da kimiyyar halittu, noma, kimiyyar muhalli da fasaha. Manyan malamai, musamman Farfesa Ron Mackenzie, masanin ilimi, Farfesa Mutuku Mutinga, masanin ilimin ƙwayoyin cuta, da sauransu, sun yi aiki a jami'ar a matsayin mataimakin shugaban jami'a.
