Jane Igharo an haife ta ne a Najeriya, iyayenta daga jihar Edo kuma ta yi yawancin yarinta a kasar kafin ta yi hijira tare da danginta zuwa Canada tana da shekaru goma sha biyu.[3] Ta yi karatun ta kuma ta sami digiri na aikin jarida daga Jami'ar Toronto bayan ta yi aiki a matsayin ƙwararriyar sadarwa a Ontario, Kanada. [3]

Igharo ta girma a matsayin ƴaƴar baƙi, ta bayyana cewa danginta suna da kyakkyawan fata a gare ta kuma mahaifiyarta ta gaya mata cewa ba za ta iya yin aure ba ko kuma ta yi aure ba tare da ƙabilarta ba a wani yunƙuri na tabbatar da ci gaban al'adunsu a yammacin yamma.
