Chyrum ta zama mai fafutuka wajen kare hakkin dan Adam na Eritrea lokacin da aka kori 'yan Eritrea da Habasha 70,000 zuwa Eritrea a lokacin yakin Eritriya da Habasha wanda kuma ya fara a shekarar 1998. Chyrum ta bayyana a shekarar 2015 cewa yana da wahala a ci gaba da cin zarafin bil adama na duniya a Eritrea. [10]

Al'ummar Eritiriya Don 'Yancin Dan Adam da Kariyar 'Yan Gudun Hijira sun ba Chyrum lambar yabo mai daraja ta musamman a ranar 20 ga watan Yuni 2009 saboda "Yaƙin neman 'yancin ɗan adam, gabaɗaya, da aikinta na rashin gajiyawa tare da 'yan gudun hijira, musamman".
