Jami'ar Jihar Cross River wanda aka fi sani da UNICROSS wata Cibiyar sakandare ce ta jihar tare da makarantun hudu da suka bazu a fadin kananan hukumomi hudu na jihar. Jami'ar da aka fi sani da Jami'ar Fasaha ta Cross River (CRUTECH).[1] An sake masa suna a watan Fabrairun 2021 ta hanyar lissafin da aka zartar a Majalisar Dokokin Jihar Cross River wanda tsohon Gwamnan Jihar, Benedict Ayade ya amince da shi. Jami'ar ta mayar da sunan 'yan asalin jihar wanda Jami'ar Kuros Riba, Uyo a yanzu Jami'ar Uyo, Jihar Akwa Ibom, Najeriya ke rike da ita har zuwa ranar 1 ga Oktoba 1991 lokacin da gwamnatin Tarayyar Najeriya ta kafa Jami'ar Uyo a matsayin Jami'ar Tarayya bayan rabuwar yankin Akwa Ibom da jihar Cross River a shekarar 1987. Jami’ar Uyo ta gaji dalibai, ma’aikata, shirye-shiryen ilimi da daukacin cibiyoyin Jami’ar Jihar Kuros Riba da Jihar Kuros Riba ta kafa a shekarar 1983. [2]
Ofishin Mataimakin Shugaban kasa, Mataimakin Mataimakin Babban Jami'in da Bursar duk suna cikin Cibiyar Calabar, wanda ake la'akari da babban harabar Cibiyar, wanda ke cikin yankin Calabar ta Kudu na Jihar Cross River a Kudancin Najeriya.[3] Jami'ar ta kafa a shekara ta 2002 ta Gwamna Donald Duke na lokacin ta hanyar haɗakar manyan cibiyoyi uku: The Polytechnic of Calabar, The College of Education, da Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture . [4] Yana ba da darussan digiri a matakin digiri da digiri na biyu.[5]Jami'ar a halin yanzu tana da sansanoni a Calabar, Obubra, Ogoja da Okuku .
