Umaru Bago Tafida III (an haife shi a shekarar ta alif Dari Tara da hamsin da hudu 1954) shi ne sarki na 12th, na Etsu, ko kuma sarkin gargajiya na Masarautar Lapai a jihar Neja, Najeriya. An naɗa shi a watan Yuli shekarar 2002. Ya gaji Sarki Alhaji Muhammadu Kobo, wanda ya rasu yana da shekaru 92 a duniya bayan ya yi mulki na tsawon shekaru 48, kuma gwamnan jihar Neja Abdulkadir Kure ya nada shi kan kujerar sarauta.
A lokacin bikin nadin Umaru manyan mutane da dama sun halarci taron naɗa mashi rawanin ciki harda mataimakin shugaban ƙasa na wancan zamanin wato Alhaji Atiku Abubakar da tsohon shugaban ƙasa na mulkin soja Ibrahim Babangida.

[gyara sashe | gyara masomin]A matsayinsa na ɗan majalisar sarakunan jihar Neja, a watan Maris din shekarar 2003, ya nuna goyon bayan shi 100% akan lallai mutane su zaɓa jam'iyyar PDP mai mulki a wancan lokacin. Sauran ‘yan majalisar da suka amince da PDP sun hada da Etsu Nupe ( Sanda Ndayako ), Sarkin Suleja ( Auwal Ibrahim ), Etsu Agaie, Sarkin Minna da Sarkin Kagara. A watan Janairun shekarar 2009, yana cikin shugabannin da suka marawa gwamnan jihar Edo, Adams Oshiomhole baya wajen neman a binciki almundahana a gwamnatin shugaba Olusegun Obasanjo a shekarar 1999-2007.
A watan Yulin shekarar ta 2009, yana cikin tawagar Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar tare da Etsu Agaie, Muhammadu Kudu Abubakar wanda yayi kira ga majalisar dokoki da ta duba kafa sabuwar jihar Eddo a matsayin jihar al'ummar Nupe. A cikin watan Yunin shekarar 2010, rikici tsakanin Fulani makiyaya da manoman Nupe a Masarautar Lapai wanda ya yi sanadiyar mutuwar mutane kusan 15. Fulani, sunje daukar fansa kan kisan da akayi musu a baya. An gudanar da Sallar Fidau a fadar Umar Bago kafin a binne gawarwakin.[1]
