Emotan (karni na 15), ƴar kasuwa ce, wacce ta yi cinikin kayan abinci a kewayen Kasuwar Oba a tsohuwar masarautar Benin a zamanin mulkin Oba Uwaifiokun da Prince Ogun, wacce daga baya ta dauki sunan " Oba Ewuare Mai Girma " bayan ta zama Oba na Benin .[1][2][3] Ita ce majagaba a cibiyar kula da rana ta farko a birnin Benin ; Tarihin baka ya ce ta taimaka wa Oba Ewuare wajen maido da sarautar Oba na Benin bayan ta kwashe shekaru da dama tana gudun hijira.
Rayuwa
[gyara sashe | gyara masomin]Emotan (ainihin suna Uwaraye), an haife shi a Eyaen tsakanin 1380, zuwa 1400. Bayan rasuwar mijinta, ta gina wata bukka inda take kula da bukatun yara.[4]
Emotan dai ya taka rawar gani wajen ganin Ewuare ya kwato karagar mulki a matsayin Oba na Benin bayan ta shaida masa wani shirin kisan kai da Uwaifiokun da wasu sarakuna suka yi masa a lokacin da yake gudun hijira. Ewuare ya ci gaba da nada Emotan a matsayin Iyeki ( Turanci : shugaban kungiyar Ekpate mai izini), matsayin da aka ba wani mai aiki na tabbatar da dokokin kasuwa da duba al'amuran tsaro.
Deification
[gyara sashe | gyara masomin]Bayan rasuwar Emotan, Oba Ewuare ya bauta mata ta hanyar ba da umarnin dasa bishiyar Uruhe mai alfarma a daidai wurin da take baje kolin kayayyakinta. Ya ci gaba da ba da doka cewa dole ne a yi mubaya'a ga Emotan ta mutanen da ke bikin kowane nau'i na taron biki.
Mutum-mutumi na Emotan

John A. Danford ne ya kera wannan mutum-mutumin kuma Oba Akenzua II tare da hadin gwiwar hukumomin mulkin mallaka na Burtaniya ne suka kaddamar da shi a ranar 20, ga Mayu, 1954. Yanzu haka dai wannan mutum-mutumin yana nan a kasuwar Oba da ke cikin birnin Benin a jihar Edo .[5]
