Abu Ibrahim dan siyasar Najeriya ne wanda aka zabe shi Sanata mai wakiltar Katsina ta Kudu (Funtua) a cikin watan Afrilun 2003 a jam’iyyar All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), wanda ya yi wa’adi daya har zuwa watan Mayu 2007.[1] An sake zabe shi a wannan kujera a watan Afrilun 2011.[2]

Da fari Ibrahim ya yi aiki a ma'aikatan gwamnatin tarayya kafin ya shiga siyasa.

Ibrahim ya samu takardar shaidar kammala karatu a Kwalejin Gwamnati da ke Keffi. Ya kammala karatunsa a jami'ar Ahmadu Bello, sannan ya fara aikin gwamnati na jihar Kaduna. An tura shi ofishin gwamna a matsayin mataimakin sakatare. Ya shafe shekaru masu yawa a matsayin ma’aikacin gwamnati a ofishin gwamna, ya kuma yi balaguro zuwa kasashen waje na wucin gadi don samun takardar shaidar difloma a fannin tsare-tsaren tattalin arziki da kuma digiri na biyu a fannin tattalin arziki. A karshen shekarun 1970, an mayar da shi sabon kamfani gidaje na jiha, kayan da ya yi fice a lokacin da yake aiki a ofishin gwamna a matsayin hanyar da gwamnati za ta iya amfani da ita don rage wasu matsalolin tattalin arziki da zamantakewa kamar gidaje. A shekarar 1979, lokacin da Hukumar Raya Babban Birnin Tarayya ta mayar da ofisoshinta daga Legas zuwa Suleja, an nada Ibrahim a matsayin Daraktan Gudanarwa na FCDA.[3]

Ibrahim ya kasance sanata a jamhuriya ta uku ta Najeriya. Bayan tabarbarewar jamhuriyar, ya koma rayuwarsa na yau da kullum. Sai dai kuma ya na cikin wasu kungiyoyi da ke adawa da takarar Sani Abacha na kan sa.[4]

A lokacin jamhuriya ta hudu, Ibrahim ya kasance shugaban jam'iyyar PDP reshen Katsina na wasu watanni. Ya yi murabus daga wannan mukamin ne a babban taron jam’iyyar na shekara ta 2002 bayan da aka yi masa zargin da ba su da tushe.[5] An zabi Ibrahim Sanata mai wakiltar Katsina ta Kudu (Funtua) Sanata a watan Afrilun 2003 a karkashin jam'iyyar All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).[1] A watan Agusta 2006, an kore shi daga ANPP, kamar yadda tsohon shugaban kasa Muhammadu Buhari, shi ma daga Katsina. Dukansu an zarge su ne da ayyukan adawa da jam’iyya da kuma rashin mutunta kundin tsarin mulkin jam’iyyar.[6]

A watan Afrilun 2007, Ibrahim ya fito takarar Gwamnan Jihar Katsina bai yi nasara ba. A watan Fabrairun 2010, ya bi sahun Muhammadu Buhari wajen ficewa daga jam’iyyar ANPP.[7] Ya yi takara a zaben Afrilu 2011 don zama Sanata mai wakiltar Katsina ta Kudu (Funtua) a dandalin Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). Ya samu kuri’u 324,652, inda ya kayar da dan takarar jam’iyyar People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, wanda ya zo na biyu da kuri’u 198,927. Jikamshi ya kasance tsohon mataimakin gwamnan jihar.[8]

Ibrahim ya shiga tattaunawar ta hadin gwiwa tsakanin CPC da Action Congress kuma ya kasance mai shiga tsakanin Bola Tinubu na AC da Buhari na CPC. Tattaunawar ta ci tura a lokacin, sai dai kuma an sake kunno kai kafin zaben 2015.[9]

Ibrahim ya zamo mataimakin shugaban marasa rinjaye na majalisar dattawa tsakanin 2011 zuwa 2015. Ya gabatar da daftarin dokar hakkin ’yan kasa wanda ya ba da damar mazaunan da suka zauna a wani wuri sama da shekaru ashirin a amince da su a matsayin ’yan asalin kasa.[10]

A shekara ta 2015, ya koma majalisar dattijai a karkashin jam’iyyar All Progressives Congress, jam'iyyar hadin gwiwa ta AC, CPC da wasu ‘yan siyasa daga PDP.
