Berom (Wani lokacin ana rubuta Birom) shi ne mafi girman ƙabila ce dake jihar Filato, tsakiyar Najeriya . waɗanda suka haɗa kananan hukumomi hudu, wadanda suka hada da Jos ta Arewa, Jos ta kudu, Barkin Ladi (Gwol) da Riyom, Berom suma ana samun su a wasu kananan hukumomin kudancin jihar Kaduna.

Berom suna magana da yaren Berom, wanda ke na reshen Filato na Benuwe-Congo, wani yanki ne na babban gidan masu yaren Neja-Congo . Ba shi da dangantaka da harshen Hausa (wanda dangin Afro-Asiya ne ) ko kuma wasu yarukan Afro-Asiatic na jihar Filato, wadanda kuma suke yarukan Chadi .

Mutanen Berom suna da kyawawan al'adu. Suna yin bikin Nzem Berom kowace shekara a watan Maris ko Afrilu. Sauran bukukuwan sun hada da Nzem Tou Chun (worongchun) da Wusal Berom. Oneaya daga cikin manyan ƙungiyoyin asali ne a cikin Nijeriya (Jihar Filato) waɗanda ke yin imani da Allahn Yahudu da kuma Kirista (Dagwi). [2]

Berom suna da babban sarki da ake kira Gbong Gwom Jos . Mulkin mallaka na gargajiya an ƙirƙira shi a cikin 1935 daga mulkin mallaka na Burtaniya na Arewacin Najeriya . Arewacin Najeriya ya kasance tare da halaye daban daban na yare da al'adu tsakanin ƙabilun Filato da sauran kungiyoyin. Wannan jahilcin na bambancin ƙabila da farko ya ƙarfafa shugabannin Hausawa wanda za su kula da asalin Jos na ƙasar da aka ƙirƙirar, wanda ya kasance cikin rikici tare da Berom saboda ra'ayoyi da maslaha iri-iri.

Ta hanyar madauwari; Lamba 24p / 1916 [JOS PROF NAK 473/1916], mai ɗauke da kwanan wata 15 ga watan Agusta 1917, an umurci Mazaunin a Lardin Bauchi da ya turo wasu masu iko daga wasu shugabannin kananan hukumomi da suka hada da na gundumomi da na kauyuka don daukaka su a matsayin masu martaba daga mai girma Gwamna Janar. A lokacin mulkin mallaka, an rarraba Berom zuwa ƙungiyoyin siyasa masu cin gashin kansu wadanda suka danganci yankuna, amma hukumar mulkin mallaka ta hade su karkashin Gbong Gwom a 1952 don taimakawa daidaita ayyukan yan asalin.

Babban sarki na farko Dachung Gyang ya hau mulki daga 1935 zuwa 1941. A karkashin Dachung Gyang, an sanya cibiyar gargajiyar a matsayin Majalisar Kabilun Berom ke tsara sarakuna a cikin Authorityan asalin Jos.
