Jihar Imo (Inyamurai: Ȯra Imo), jiha ce dake Kudu maso Gabashin Najeriya. Ta haɗa iyaka daga gabas da Jihar Anambra, Jihar Rivers daga yamma da kudu, da kuma Jihar Abia daga gabas. Jihar ta samo asalin sunanta ne daga Kogin Imo wanda ke kwarara ta iyaka gabashin Jihar. Babban birnin jihar itace Owerri, kuma a ayi wa jihar laƙabi da "Eastern Heartland" wato Cibiyar Ƙasashen Gabas.

Acikin jihohi 36 na Najeriya, Jihar Imo itace jiha ta uku mafi ƙanƙanta a Najeriya, kuma itace jiha ta 14 a yawan jama'a da mutum aƙalla miliyan 5.4 dangane da ƙiyasin shekara ta 2016. Ta fuskar yanayin ƙasa kuwa, Jihar ta kasu kashi biyu dazukan Niger Delta swamp daga can ƙuryar gabashin jihar, sai kuma busassun dazukan Cross–Niger a sauran sassan jihar. Sauran muhimman Wurare sun haɗa da ƙoramu da koguna kamar su Kogin Awbana, Kogin Imo, Orashi, da kuma Otamir tare da Tafkin Oguta a yammacin Jihar Imo.[1]

Jihar Imo ta yau na ɗauke da ƙabilu da dama, musamman Inyamurai tare da harshen Igbonci da kuma turanci a matsayin yarukan farko a jihar. Kafin zuwan Turawan mulkin mallaka, yankin Jihar Imo ta yau na daga cikin yankin Masarautar Nri, sannan daga baya kuma Aro Confederacy kafin daga bisani Turawa su yaƙe Jama'a Aro a wani ya ƙi da ake kira Yakin Anglo-Aro. Bayan yaƙin, turawa sun haɗe yankin acikin Yankin Kudancin Najeriya wacce daga baya ta zamo Najeriya ta Burtaniya a 1914; bayan an haɗe yankin kuma, Jihar Imo ta zamo cibiyar adawa da mulkin turawa a Yakin Mata.

Bayan samun 'yancin Najeriya, yankin Jihar Imo ta yau na daga cikin Yankin Gabashin Najeriya har zuwa 1967 lokacin da aka raba yankin kuma ta faɗa ƙarƙashin Jihar Gabas ta Tsakiya. Ƙasa da watan in biyu bayan hakan, tsohuwar Yankin Gabashin Najeriya ta janyo yaƙin basasa wanda aka kwashe tsawon shekaru uku ana gwabzawa tsakanin Gwamnatin Najeriya da kuma yankin Biyafara. An yi musayar wuta sosai a yankin musamman a Owerri har zuwa lokacin da aka ba Owerri babban birnin Biyafara a shekarar 1969. Tattalin arzikin jihar kuwa sun ta'allaƙa ne akan noma da kiwo, musamman noman kwakwan manja wanda mutane da dama sun dogara dashi a wajen girki. Muhimman masana'antu sun haɗa da sarrafa man fetur da kuma gas, musamman a yankunan arewaci da kuma yammacin Jihar Imo. Jihar ta yi fama da rikice-rikice iri-iri a lokuta daban daban na tarihin jihar, daga cikin waɗanda suka yi fice sun haɗa rikicin magance sihirce-sihirce wato Rikicin Otokoto na 1996, da kuma rikicin da ake yi a yanzu haka na Eastern Security Network da dai sauransu. Duk da rikicin da ke faruwa a yankin, Jihar na fuskantar cigaba ta fuskar yawan jama'a da kuma masana'antu, Imo itace ta shida Jerin Jihohi Najeriya dangane da Ma'aunin Cigaban ɗan Adam.

Tana da yawan filin kasa kimanin kilomita arabba’i 5,530 da yawan jama’a miliyan uku da dubu dari tara da talatin da huɗu da dari takwas da tisa'in da tara (ƙidayar yawan jama'a shekara 2006). Babban birnin Jihar itace Owerri. Kuma Rochas Okorocha shi ne gwamnan jihar tun zaben shekara ta 2015 har zuwa yau. Mataimakin gwamnan shi ne Prince Eze Madumere. Dattawan jihar sun hada da: Samuel Anyanwu, Hope Uzodinma da Benjamin Uwajumogu.

Jihar Imo ta haɗa iyaka da Jihar Abiya daga gabas, Rive Niger da Jihar Delta daga yamma, Jihar Anambra daga arewa sai kuma Jihar Rivers daga kudu. Jihar tana da lambobin wuri kamar haka; lattitude 4°45'N da 7°15'N, sai kuma longitude 6°50'E da 7°25'E, tare da ƙasa mai girman 5,100 sq km.

Jihar tana da albarkatun ƙasa kamar man fetur, gas, lead, calcium carbonate, wuta mai amfani da hasken rana da mai amfani da iska, da kuma zinc.
